We sampled call logs from 26 service businesses, clinics, salons, garages, travel agencies, small clinics, over a four-week window. Of the calls that went unanswered (busy, after-hours, second-line), only 38% ever got called back.
The other 62% were lost revenue. Most of it was avoidable.
Why callbacks do not happen
The owner sees the missed call notification at 9 p.m. and decides to deal with it tomorrow. Tomorrow there are eight more. By the end of the week, the original caller has booked with someone else and the list is a guilt trip.
The fix is not a callback, it is a text-back
Within thirty seconds of the missed call ending, send the caller a WhatsApp: “Hi, we missed your call. We are at the clinic until 7 p.m., reply here and we will get back today.” Conversion on those threads is consistently 4-6x higher than a next-day callback.
